Hello, I'm Heather,
Beauty Therapist, Makeup Artist
and proud owner of Heather Alexandra Beauty, Skin, Makeup, Wellbeing.
We are set in the most idyllic countryside location of Dorset, in a gorgeous salon, housed inside the beautiful barn conversion of West Down Farm outside Corton Denham. We are a short distance from Sherborne, Bruton, Castle Cary & Wincanton and a stones throw from the prestigious "The Newt".

In the salon we provide a full range of gorgeous beauty treatments as well
as 1-2-1makeup lessons, prom & special occasion makeup, skincare consultations and advice, wellbeing treatments and health supplements. We are very privileged to have the space to host skin and makeup events too, along with outside space to enhance your time spent here, relaxing with a tea/coffee or glass of fizz!

TheStory...
So, let me tell you a little bit about Heather Alexandra Beauty...
Having had a long standing love affair, for over 30 years, with the world of beauty and makeup
(brought about by my late, elegant, mum, Alexandra) I grew older with a burning ambition to train as a Beauty Therapist and Makeup Artist..

Family and friends over the years encouraged me, requesting manicures, shape their brows, do their wedding and special occasion makeup, so, fair to say that the ambition was well fuelled and one that remained throughout my life. The passion to follow my dream never left and I now have a career I adore and I am truly overwhelmed that I am the owner of
my very own Beauty Salon.

At the age of 41, after a lot of consideration, with the wonderful support of my darling husband and devoted family and friends, I finally made the break from my full time career to take an almost uncharacteristic plunge, returning to college to train as a Beauty Therapist.

I went on to do further training with one of the world leading cosmeceutical organisations in Mineral Makeup,
Jane Iredale, gaining my qualification as a Makeup Artist, I continued my training with
The London School of Beauty and Makeup, gaining a qualification in Bridal Makeup. This led to dozens of bridal makeup bookings each year, Wedding photoshoots, making-up catwalk models at Wedding Showcases, and excitingly, even more clients requesting 1-2-1 makeup lessons in the salon, providing them with the confidence to apply their own makeup, at the same time advising on skincare too.
I have featured in Bride & Tonic, Vow Magazine and Weddings In the Wild publications and also received a prestigious Award from LUX Life Magazine.

During the pandemic... and following months, I really gave my work/life balance, as well as my business, a great deal of reassessment and made a very difficult decision to leave the world of Bridal Makeup so that I could give my undivided attention to clients in the salon environment and also to further explore my growing passion for skincare and general wellbeing. This amazing change has allowed me more time in the salon with my wonderful clients on a
more personal 1-2-1 basis.

8 Years on, and now in the beautiful new premises outside Sherborne, I very much looking forward to 'what comes next'!
New treatments, new equipment and welcoming a few new clients along the way, I'm sure! All hugely exciting!

Lots of love,
Heather
